It’s sad, but true, summer is winding down. In just a short month or two most campgrounds will be bidding adieu to another camping season. Kids will be heading back to school and schedules will be getting busier.
But, Don’t Despair…
We still have one of the biggest end of the summer season celebrations before us, especially when it comes to campgrounds – Labor Day. Many campgrounds feature Labor Day weekend celebrations where guests can enjoy special events and activities. If you go to our Events page you can view a number of these events. In addition, if you go directly to a campground website, many have their own events page with a listing of activities.
From live music to games to water activities and more, campgrounds offer something for everyone. Or, if you look forward to Labor Day weekend as a time to unwind before a busy fall, a quiet spot can always be found for a little rest and relaxation.
And, there’s Still Time to Make a Difference
CONY is proud to work with Camp Good Days and Special Times to help raise money for the organization that supports cancer patients by providing residential camping programs for them and their loved ones. Many member campgrounds assist in this mission by holding fundraisers over the summer to raise money for Camp Good Days. Some campgrounds will be having fundraisers during their Labor Day weekend celebrations. To find out where, visit our Events page, or go directly to the campground website.
In addition, earlier this summer we wrote about CONY partnering with Cancer Mission 2020 to raise awareness of their initiatives – to end cancer by the end of the decade. This bill will require sharing of clinical trial results to help inform future trials with the ultimate goal of finding a cure. CONY member campgrounds have been working hard this summer to get signatures to help get this bill passed. If you haven’t signed yet, if you plan on camping before the end of this season, visit the campground office to ask about adding your signature, or you can sign the petition online now.
Don’t let the summer pass by without one last camping trip. If you don’t already have reservations somewhere, find a campground or area you want to visit and check availability!
